About Us
Hi! My name is Kandi and my husband Jared and I are the owners of Myrtle&Pine! We live in Lubbock, Tx with our 3 children.
Jared has a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Texas Tech University and has owned & operated 5Three Design, specializing in turf care management, irrigation, and landscape design/installation since 2003. Jared has offered a porch pot installation & subscription service for several years through 5Three Design, servicing both residences and businesses. Jared is extremely knowledgeable about all things plant, turf, and yard related and has the history to prove it!
I am also a proud Red Raider! I got my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center 17 years ago and have been treating patients in the home health setting for about 12 years now! I love all things design and decor related and have a heart to make homes beautiful inside and out!

What’s with the name?
"Instead of the thorn bush will grow the Pine tree, and instead of the briers the Myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord's renown, for an everlasting sign which will not be destroyed. Isaiah 55:13
God spoke these words to the Israelites during a wilderness season for them. He was encouraging them that if they would turn to Him and listen to Him, His word would do a work in them and joy and peace would be the result. Where before there was barrenness and thorns, now there would be beautiful and useful myrtle and pine trees, "everlasting signs of His power and His love".
I love the way God works. Nothing is wasted with Him.
When God restores, He takes away the barren and the cursed and brings forth beauty and fruit…...hence the name, Myrtle&Pine! We hope these beautiful containers will remind people that God wastes nothing and there is beauty in every season.

Watering Instructions
Watering Instructions
Spring/Summer
We recommend watering your container every day when temps are 80 degrees or more. Slowly soak, wait, and soak again during high temp days. Morning watering is ideal. When temps are 60-70 degrees, water every other day, but check your pots to make sure they are hydrated! Water container thoroughly, getting all edges of the pot as well as the center.
Fall/Winter
Water approximately twice a week. Do not allow soil to dry out as dry soil allows roots to freeze easy. Moisture helps to insulate the roots. Do not over water as roots will rot. On nights with light to moderate freezing temps cover with a cotton cloth or sheet to help protect. With harder freezes be sure to cover containers or bring inside if possible.
